Strategic partnerships
Power of Two tries hard to work closely with religious organizations and other non-profits interested in promoting healthy marriages. We are eager to find ways to integrate smoothly into the needs of your organization.
Below we've included some basic information about how to use our workshops as part of your marriage programming and about potential ways to partner with us. Please contact us with any questions or suggestions.
Pre-marriage counseling
Power of Two workshops are designed to supplement and accompany individual pastoral pre-marriage or marriage counseling.
There are potentially three elements (listed below) of a comprehensive marriage preparation program. Power of Two workshops currently provide one of those three elements, though we are hoping to provide additional programs in the near future.
- A Power of Two marriage skills workshop – teaches the general communication, decision making, and intimacy building skills that help couples create strong, happy marriages.
- A marriage inventory – helps expose potential points of conflict for a couple through a long list of questions designed to highlight differences between partners. Couples can then use the skills from the Power of Two workshops to address the specific topics exposed by a comprehensive inventory. (Power of Two is in the process of developing its own comprehensive inventory for use in pre-marriage counseling.)
- Issue specific counseling – in some cases, couples may require additional one-on-one therapy to help use their communication skills to address a few particularly difficult issues. Power of Two offers training to clergy and therapists on using Power of Two skills in a clinical setting.
As a policy, all clergy are welcome to take our workshops free of charge to understand our program and to see if it would be a good fit for their parishioners. We are also happy to send one couple from each religious community through the program free of charge as representative eyes and ears for the rest of their community.
Co-branding
Power of Two is interested in making co-branded versions of the Power of Two marriage skills workshops.
Please contact us if you are interested in creating a co-branded version of our workshop with our conflict resolution skills program interwoven with your own religious or context specific curriculum (e.g. for military families, families with disabilities, etc). We can help translate your supplemental materials into an effective live-online medium, train our marriage educators to teach the co-branded workshop, and help with marketing the co-branded course.
For example, we are currently in discussions with a non-profit organization that works with military families to create a version of the workshop designed specifically for military families. We are also set up to help individual religious organizations provide their own religious commentary to the Power of Two program.
Private groups
If you have a small group of friends or a small group of peers from your religious community who would be interested in taking the group together, please let us know. We would be happy to work with you to schedule a private workshop at a time that works best for you.
